Los Angeles, June 5...
BIG NEWS! Butch Brash and that lovely French starlet Elaine Ennui
are tying the knot! - and don't forget, you read it here first! Paid
a surprise visit on that charming Micky Dolenz. Soon we were sitting
on his very cunning patio - clever boy, he's made it look so much like
a fire escape, you'd take it for the real thing! - enjoying the most really
imaginative lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, chili and milk.
I must mention that Micky's apartment is just the cleverest thing I've
seen in months, as different and refreshing as Micky himself. My
eye was particularly caught by a table with only three legs and a chair
that collapsed when I sat in it. Isn't that really fabulous!
Micky, as you all know, is an accomplished musician and a highly trained
singer as well as a successful television personality. What you probably
didn't guess is that he is a brilliant actor. I asked him if he'd
ever played Hamlet. "No," he replied, "but if you hum a few bars
I'll see if I can fake it." Did he plan to go into the movies?
"Yes," he answered, "I plan to go to the one down the street this evening."
He absolutely denies the rumors that he will run for U.S. Senator in the
next election. After a great deal of prodding, Micky confessed he
had a photographic memory. "Yes, I can never forget a name or number
once I've heard it," he admitted sheepishly. This boy is really fabulous!
I asked him how he felt about computer dating: Fine for others, but he
prefers girls. Micky, as you cannot help but know, is a member of
that marvelously successful group, the MONKEES. I asked him candidly
how he got along with the other boys. "Wonderful - I really mean
this. The three greatest guys I know are... are..." "Mike,
Peter and Davy," I said laughingly. What a delightful sense of humor
this boy has! Micky's apartment is really deliciously different.
The door to the patio is made just like a window! As we climbed back
in, I asked him how it felt to be a star while still so young. "I'm
not so young," he replied, "in fact I'm... I'm..." I chuckled.
Such a funny boy! Then it was time to go - drinks with Barbara Bigstar
at Chasen's... Well, Micky is simply the most natural, charming personality
to come along since George Hamilton. You'll be seeing a lot of him,
fans, so remember the name: GEORGE HAMILTON!!!
