The Monkees Talk Downunder
Documentary CD

I don't know where you'd find this outside Amazon.com, but so far (I'm only on track 2) it's fascinating.  Okay, yeah, you need a serious tolerance for screaming girls, and they're being total smartasses.  Oh man, these girls who break into a press conference...  "Please let me near him, oh please let me near him... PETER!"  Oh, man I'm listening to this for the second time and I'm almost starting to cry all the emotion these girls giving off.  "This can't be happening, oh Micky."  Micky was really nice, and kissed one of them.  I think Peter said "It's okay, I love you".  I can't actually tell if it was Mick or Pete.  Mike's a smartass...  Micky and Peter were so nice!
Davy continues to lie about his marriage to Linda...  Now (track 3) Mike is saying some crap about a book he wrote called "The Norwegian Sock".  Liar.  : )  This is a revelation into Mike's weirdness, certainly.  Track two is a mass of girlish screams...  There may be an interview in there somewhere, but I'm not quite sure.  Okay, Mike sounds... stoned or just generally out of it.  This is great, I like this CD...  It's really informative...  I mean, about their personalities in '68, and Davy... The secret marriage and the lying really gets to me.  Mike's got a big ego.  Peter... the quintessential hippie, even if the movement was actually dead by then (by Peter's own account), he spouts a lot of stuff and shows himself to be a hell of a lot smarter than TV Peter.  Davy shills for a diamond company at one point.

FINAL ANALYSIS:  Groovy, informative.  At times the sound quality is pretty bad, but I think it's generally understandable.  I think you get a lot of personality out of these interviews.  Basically, you have to be an interview kind of person and be willing to listen to an hour of Monkees talking and NO MONKEE MUSIC!  This CD doesn't have any music on it.  That's the one downside, I don't think I'll listen to it very often with no music.  Interesting liner notes, too.
Soooooooooooo...  yeah, it's good, baby, groovy.
So this is Peter Tork of the Monkees and in '68 it's just great to go around with the crowd on the new 2UW!
(Nah, it's just me. : ) )
